Project Objectives

The Diablo Trust works to sustainably manage and protect the land and wildlife of the Diablo Canyon region east of Flagstaff.  I worked alongside three other student designers and the company's Executive Director to completely redesign their brand and outfit them with a variety of correspondence materials. 

Project objectives included:

  • Redesigning the outdated logo

  • Designing a comprehensive brand and style guide

  • Creating business correspondence and advertisements

  • Implementing the brand in existing publications and on the website

Logo Design

The final logo design depicts a pronghorn antelope, the most iconic of the animals the Diablo Trust raises on their land.  The client's request for something "trendy yet timeless" prompted me to choose a minimal, flat design paired with a contemporary sans serif typeface.

The brand's colors were chosen to evoke leather, wood, and earth tones.  Also featured in the style guide are a stylized topographical map of the Diablo Canyon region and a cracked leather texture,  both of which are intended to be used sparingly to add visual interest.
